We will have so much traffic from the western shore at the CB, local businesses won't miss a beat. They'll probably get more business just from the overflow.
Amen to the chicken fried steak, Barb!

4 Bad Experiences at one Cracker Barrel can't ruin the ENTIRE Franchise, can it?
It's like... I don't know.

Hey Kim: I saw Moon Pies at the Food Lion the other day - pointed them out to my husband. Really? Thanks - I guess I just never thought about looking for them up here -- not that my rearend needs any moon pies but it's nice to know I can get them should I get the craving!

Anybody notice they lowered the Cracker Barrel sign today? Drove by after voting and they were working on lowering it.

No, don't think so - I think Queen Anne's County probably wouldn't allow them to have an "I-95" type sign. I started looking around and there are no signs very high in QAC. This is just my opinion

Sorry. Going back a little in this thread, but I wanted to touch on this and see if anybody else had heard anything similar. My wife is a teacher and had heard from some of her students that when they went for interviews with CB, that they were hiring servers at $8.00/hr. plus tips. I some how have never had to work in the food industry but have had many friends and relatives who did/do and also eat out alot and have regular servers whom we converse with and none of these people that I know of every made anything like this. Isn't it usually like $2-4/hr plus tips or have things really changed in order to find good help and compete with the likes of retail stores. Has anyone here gone to a CB interview at the KI location and been told anything similar?

I have been a server off and on for many, many years. Todays payrate for a server is $3.28 plus tips. However, CB has a different policy. They start the server off at the $3.28 hr rate, however, they have a program called Personal Achievement Responsibility (PAR) Program. In a nutshell there are 4 basic levels of achievement. To advance to each level, the server will have to pass several performance evaluations in which you demonstrate your ability on the job. You will also have to pass a test on information related to the server functions. As you move from one par level to the next, the rewards are eligibility for pay increases, decreased health benefits contributions, and more responsibilites that offer recognition and greater opportunity to reach full potential as a professional in the restaurant industry.

Sounds like they actually reward you for being proficient and excelling at your job; giving you more reason to take pride in it. EDIT: Sorry I thought I had put the box around the statement from the author of that post. Guess I messed it up.

Not sure what the policy is here at CB... but I do know some places will pay an hourly for wait staff or bartenders and I've heard for this reason... If someone is being paid the $3.28 plus tips & work like a 6 hour shift & do not make the equivalent of minimum wage the employer has to make up that difference... not sure if this is entirely true or if how I'm saying it is correct... but I've heard this from others
