If any of you have cats, especially old ones, I strongly recommend the Cat Hospital in Cordova, right off rt. 50. There are 2 vets there who are both caring, knowledgeable, and actually love cats. They're available to answer questions by phone and are very supportive of both you and your cat, especially when it comes to making hard decisions.

They do have weekend hours. They're open on Saturdays until 2, I think.

I had my oldest cat put to sleep here (Cat Hospital). She was 16 yrs. old and the sweetest thing ever. They were so wonderful here. I was by myself and they gave me so much time with her. I was with her the whole time. I never thought I'd be able to do that, especially alone but I am so thankful that I did. The staff, as well as the vet there were so good. It's one of the hardest things to do, but there it felt they really understood. Just my experience.

Yeah... I had my kitty Sugar put to sleep there last Thursday, and they were really wonderful to us, both during and the weeks before when she started going downhill.

Thank you. It is hard. Especially near the end, Sugar required constant care... I've suddenly found myself with all this TIME and not sure what to fill it with...

They do have weekend hours. They're open on Saturdays until 2, I think. well, unfortunately, that did not fit with my cat's schedule. i should have said after hours. and i know what you mean--mine needed a lot of care, too. i've been through this so many times with cats and dogs and such, that as much as i want another, i don't know if i can go through this again.

I know what you mean-when you love animals, you just want them all around-but letting them go is so hard-they are just so loyal and loving-i just know that animal lovers can always be comforted by the knowledge that we loved them and cared for them and gave them a wonderful life-they know

Funnel...I am so sorry about your beloved kitty...Dr. R at the cat hospital...was beyond nice to me when I had to have my Mushy Cat put down after 2 weeks of trying to save him...I fired my vet and started using Dr. R...compassionate and wonderful office. Did you know they make christmas ornaments with all the animals that pass away during the year and put them on a tree in their office at Christmas time...They also have a garden in the back that you can buy a plant in memory of your kitty and plant it back there...they have benches so you can just sit there and remember all the good times. They gave me Mushy's Christmas ornament...we just so happened to rescue two kittens off the side of rt 18...and that is where we took them...and they gave me the ornament. So now we have The Squishy Cat...and Milo..Milo bonded with our German Shepherd..its quite comical to watch them together. Sorry about the long post.... Barb

I knew about the garden, but not about the Christmas ornaments. That's so sweet of them... They're really such a great office. I'm sure I will see them again soon, as we have 3 other cats that are way overdue on their yearly check-ups... (What can I say, Sugar got all our attention and vet money for awhile.)

we tried desperately to find someone to put our guy out of his misery, but no one was willing to take a little time from his or her. as i said earlier, my vet was out of town. i know she would have. i am very disillusioned. i wanted to be a vet years ago; this was very disappointing, to say the least.

I love the Cat Hospital! My kitty loves them too! The only problem I have with them is they will NOT work with 1-800-PetMeds. Nope. Just won't. The girl I talked to about it at their office was very sweet, and I told her that I needed them to authorize some meds (routine maintenance stuff..not for a specific condition)..she said the Doc would not do it. That kinda made me feel a lil cranky because they aren't exactly right around the corner or anything. I dunno...I am having bouts of thinking about trying to find another vet vs. biting the bullet and making that drive everytime I need one little thing. It really stinks too...everything about them is wonderful except for that, at least in my experiences with them.
Moosie, sweetheart, I am so sorry to hear all of the trouble and pain you have had lately about your precious pet! Next time I see ya..you are gettin a HUG!

I can relate. That is why I fired my 1st vet...and I needed her on a week day..even said I would bring Mushy to her house..and her helper blew me off. I ended up taking Mushy to the Vet Emergency on the other side of the bridge...they were wonderful to me and Mushy. My 1st vet didn't even have the courtesy to call after I left a frantic message.... But during the time of my hell with my cat...the cat hospital was wonderful to us... Barb
