Generic thread title to cover anything anyone wants to post about but the specific thing I am posting about at this moment is pirates attacking ships. There is at least 1 pirate attack attempt on ships per day. These thugs are getting paid millions of dollars in ransoms. This has got to stop. The ships need to be legally armed so they can attempt to protect themselves. Argh!

kinda useless to have a generice thread, isn't it hard enough to stay on topic without having a topic? It's much nice to see the topic and know what I want to look at or not.,
beats me.

George Bush had eight years to stop these attacks and did nothing! Step away from the crackpipe, I mean keyboard and no one will get hurt. haha I believe he or she was going for sarcasm..

Geraldo has a special on Fox News this weekend, Pirates of the 21st Century. There's your solution right there. Send Geraldo!! ;D He'll handle those pirates. Then again, he'll probably just give the pirates the whereabouts of ships sailing from rich nations, that will be able to afford those ransoms.

With any luck, Geraldo will do some field reporting and they will grab him. Whats the bet that they send him back inside of three days, no ransom necessary? I won't take that bet!! Me thinks they would send him back with a million bucks!

Definitely bad ass...parachuting to the Bainbridge.
On the morning of April 8, 2009, a group of Somali Pirates attempted to board the American cargo ship, Maersk Alabama 350 miles (560 km) off the Somali coast in search of a million-dollar ransom. The ship's crew fought back, surprising the African pirates who are accustomed to ships obeying their orders. The pirates took the ship's Captain, Richard Phillips, hostage in a small 25-foot (7.6 m) lifeboat.
The USS Bainbridge (DDG-96) responded to the scene from over 300 miles (480 km) away, but pirates refused to cooperate.
A SEAL Team parachuted from an unknown high altitude into the ocean near the scene and rendezvoused with the USS Bainbridge unnoticed by the pirates holding Phillips hostage.
The lifeboat had run out of fuel, and seas were rough. The pirates agreed to allow the USS Bainbridge to tow it into calmer waters, using an 82-foot (25 m) towrope. While towing the boat through rough seas, one of the pirates was seen leveling his AK-47 assault rifle at Phillip's back. The on-scene commander became concerned for Phillips' safety for obvious reasons. The commander gave orders to shoot.
The shots were fired at 12:19am E.T. (7:19pm local time), Sunday, April 12, 2009. Three snipers each fired a single shot simultaneously, each hitting their target in the head, and instantly killing the three pirates aboard the lifeboat, the shots having been taken in the dark, close to 100 feet (30 m) away, from a ship pitching and rolling in heavy seas to another boat facing similar conditions.
Yeah..bad ass.
