I have to say that our area by far has the worst restaurants I have ever been to. I haven't been to one yet that uses 100% fresh food. All of the food I've eaten was clearly made with frozen, out of the bag ingredients. It's a shame!

Then you haven't really looked. There are several eateries with fresh food.

Been to The Narrows? How about Annie's? LaFontanna? Lisa's Small Plates? etc. We have great restaurants here. I'm looking forward to the Japanese place opening and the new Italian place going in where Love Point cafe' was, and R's opening. My only complaint was that all we had here is Crab Cakes and Rockfish, but now we have some good variety. Now all that I'd like to see is Thai, a good Chinese place, an Italian bakery, and a bagel shop with home made bagels and I'd never have to leave KI for eats again!

Small Plates, all the charm of strip mall. Oh wait, it is in a strip mall. The Narrows isn't that good and the crab cakes are very, very bland. My neighbor owns Annie's so I will leave that one alone. What I'm saying is most of the food if not all are from a frozen package or premade. If you have ever had stuffed flounder from this area do you think the it was fresh? No chance. Can you get fresh flounder in our area? YES! Why not use fresh? The Chefs can't run a proper kitchen to get the fish out of the kitchen fast enough. Have you ever had a fresh blackened Mahi sandwich here, nope. Do you know how inexpensive and easy it is to blacken a fresh piece of Mahi Mahi and serve it on a fresh roll with fresh fries? I can make that in 5 minutes.

I would love to have my own Bistro but I'm sure you're well aware that it's not easy or cheap. I'm not sure I want to put my house on the line with my kids being so little right now. When the time is right I will open a restaurant with all fresh food that I can be proud of. Right now, I'm working and perfecting my cooking.

But Brooke, you're making it sound easy, and inexpensive to run a restaurant...

There is no such thing as a restaurant that uses all fresh food... everyone orders from Cisco or some other distributer.

CISCO??? No Way! You don't have to use anything from them or anyone else. Have you ever made homemade salsa? I have and I use fresh vegetables. I use many different salsas for my fish dishes. I'm not lazy and will not put a dish on my menu if it contained a CISCO product. Keep thinking that and Fishermans will keep dishing the crap out.

Brooke, If you want to complain about food - try the food they serve at our schools. Sodexho has the contract, and they serve the worst crap to our kids. Many parents, including myself, have complained to the schools about how unhealthy the food is. Sodexho got the contract because they were the only ones that bid on the contract. Apparently, Queen Annes County kids (parents) pay more for their lunches than other counties... why is that? Brooke if you have any kids in school, please look at the food that they serve and speak up... we need all the help we can get!

My kids are homeschooled because of food allergies. The food in the schools are not only terrible but deadly for my kids. Hence, they are homeschooled.

i almost think that if you want all fresh food, etc, you have to go to the inn at little washington or something and be prepared to spend the big bucks. (i'm not talking about what you can cook at home.)

oh yeah, Sysco... Same difference they knew what I meant.
Yes, Brooke.. I have made my own salsa, and guacamole... but that is for you and your kids... trying spending that dough to make that for customers, meaning more than your husband and 3 kids (Just a guess)

Well, I only have 2 kids and divorced which makes it harder to be able to start a business. I love living in Stevensville but the choices are very limited when it comes to eating out. I'm sure it will get better in the future.
