Well, it's that time of year again! Those pesky ants are back. Anybody have a good remedy to get rid of or at least control them? I have placed ant baits around the foundation and interior. Seems not to be working so well. We have a one year old and do not want to spray inside. Called an exterminator...price $450.00 for the year!!! They'll come back and re-treat if they still are around. Any advice would be appreciated especially if it is more cost effective.

I use this stuff in a small bottle, you put a couple drops on a little "plate" (small piece of thin cardboard) and put it in their tail, they feed like a hogs at the trough, they take the bait back to the colony and walla, they are gone.
I can't recall the name of it though,,,,,,CRS kicking in again,,,,,

Put Bay Leaves outside your doors, in window sills, door frames, behind & under stove, fridge, in kitchen cabinets, behind coffeemaker, toaster, etc. It will take awhile, but it works especially well if you can combine methods & use those baits in spots your kids won't touch also. You really have to be fastidious about leaving ANY food out on counters for a while. After one rough infestation, I keep the bay leaves around year long & replace periodically and have never had a problem again (several years). Make sure your kids don't chomp on them - humans can't digest them too well & could be pretty bad if your baby ate one -- don't think it would appeal to him/her though. I'd rather it took a few extra days & not have all those chemicals in my house forever! Good luck.

Thanks. I actually purchased the Terro Liquid Ant Baits at Ace Hardware. They work like a charm!

Has anyone tried the Terro baits or lawn crystals? I know the gel works, but was wondering if anyone had any success with the other methods they have. Gel only come in 1 oz. bottles and we have a much larger (outside) problem than that can handle unless we buy 10 of them.

Accutech Pest Management : 410-439-0500 $75 every 3 months and they retreat for free. they say that their treatments are not harmful to humans or pets, us nor our dogs have had any issues. Since hiring them I see ants outside but not in. Also A&B Pest and termite (something like that) they are local the Buckey's own it. Their treatments are all natural.
