I'm sure there are some honest intentions to some of these beyond simply the Tax Man getting his cut, such as the interior design law in D.C.
Perhaps the market was filling with amateurs, muddying the waters and making the pros hard to find. I can understand the rationale for that, but I still don't agree with it. Tough cookies. Learn to advertise yourself as a vendor, and learn to recognize quality as a consumer.
There may be good sounding reasons for all of these stifling regulations, but they certainly are having a negative impact on commerce.
