I just wanted some thoughts from you: what did you think of Grammys last night? no one stands in front of a band anymore and just sings they prance allll over the stage but last night many of the back drops were dark/computerized and performers were in black thus making them hard to see and the drummers with their faces covered in black coming down the walkways between the viewers?? guess im old had to turn it off about 9:30pm wanted to see Katy Perry but had enough and i like Usher but not last night.

Life is constantly changing while it remains the same, and especially music. When music changes into something you don't like you are considered old by those who enjoy the change.

It's not that you're old, it's that the Grammy's have always celebrated lousy music. If you look at the Grammy winners from 1970-whatever, it's people like Debbie Boon and the Bay City Rollers, Bee Gee's, etc. The furthest thing from good music and most are completely forgotton.

Hank Williams died in 1953, and his music is still played all around the world today. Hank was the first super star.

Well, I have several thoughts. 1. I'm old. A good bit of the music has no appeal to me, e.g., rap, IMHO much of which is vulgar, not musical in my understanding of musical, etc. What I heard for the most part was phrases sort of sung or shouted, but no real music--that is, something with a melody--a sustained melody, and one could repeat (if I could sing).a few acts did, but mostly not. 2. What I saw last night was a lot of whiz-bang stuff, some cool, some not, but for me when I think of listening to music, or, for that matter, watching an award show. That said, it was reasonably entertaining for what it was. 3. They kept talking about people "who have already won tonight. Well, I suppose if I watch an awards show, then I want to watch them show the awards. What did they have, maybe five? 4. I must say the opening act was wonderful. Some other performers were good, but this shouldn't be an awards show. Have a concert! 5. Used to be (i'm being old her) that a singer would stand or sit, maybe walk around a bit, sing, and do all that WHILE WEARING CLOTHING! Amazing, huh? if you have talent you really don't need to be practically naked. A couple of times things got pretty raunchy. Really necessary? At 8 pm? Why was Adam lambert--who can actually sing--get kicked off tv in a big kerfluffle? Bottom line, entertainment, but not necessarily entertaining. Not a fan of country, but glad to see lady antebellum and the jazz singer whose name escapes me and the dylanesque singers come away with some wins! All mho. You don't have to agree!
