Hey Everyone!
I have started a fundraiser called, Bucks To Help Chuck. The reason for the fundraiser is to help the family of stroke victim Chuck Strawser of Stevensville, MD. Since Chuck's stroke on February 25, 2011 the family has been putting together all of their money to get the bills paid... they haven't thought about how to pay his shock trauma bill and medical bills that continue to get higher everyday. My goal is to help this family as well as raise awareness to other people in the community. I have already contacted the American Stroke Association and they have provided me with some helpful material. Heres where I need you! I am planning on doing a raffle and I am trying to get the community to provide items to raffle off. So I am looking for new items to be donated that you think other people would want to win in a raffle... it could be gift cards, baskets, gifts from Christmas that you never used, etc. We have not set an exact date of when we will be doing this fundraiser, but a friend and I have talked with the owner of R's Americantina and he is more then willing to help us out and let us hold the fundraiser there. When we do decide on a date I will be sure to let you all know so you can join us. Thank you so much for your help, the family really appreciates everything! If you have any questions, ideas, or would like to give a donation please contact me by pm or email, Kimberlymmills@hotmail.com Thanks again!

A local family needs your help!
On the evening of February 24th, approximately 7:30p.m a 911 call was placed. What started out as a simple fall turned out to be much more. Paramedics arrived on the scene pronouncing the incident as a stroke but no one was certain. Charles Strawser was driven by ambulance to the local Kent Island airport and airlifted to Shock Trauma. Once at the hospital it was verified that Charles had indeed suffered from a stroke. Charles had experienced confusion and trouble communicating and a week later he developed pneumonia in his left lung which slowed down his progression and also developed a serious blood clot in his left arm due to the stroke which caused his arm to swell up to immense proportions. To confirm the possible pneumonia the doctors performed a bronchoscopy procedure to confirm the diagnosis. After the pneumonia was confirmed by his aspirating on the oxygen tubes it was then decided he needed to have a trach surgically placed. Judith Strawser, Charles’s wife, gave her consent and the doctors moved forward with the operation. Charles is continuing to recover at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, progressing a little bit everyday and striving to come home. It’s going to be a long road to recovery with the setbacks at the hospital, with definite care and physical therapy at home. This has affected the family tremendously.
I have started a fundraiser called, “Bucks To Help Chuck”. The goal is to collect as much money as possible to cover the family’s finances and medical expenses while Charles Strawser is under medical care. “Bucks To Help Chuck" will be held at R’s Americantina on Sunday, April 17th from 1-6pm. 10% of sales will be donated to the Strawser family as long as you let your server know that you are there for the fundraiser. There will be live entertainment featuring Beyond the Veil from 3-6pm and a raffle will be held in the cantina. We are asking for items from local businesses that we can raffle off to attract more people and maximize our proceeds.
Things that would be ideal to raffle off are:
- Gift baskets of merchandise promoting your business.
- Gift cards and certificates
- Free or complimentary monthly memberships
- Items of value
If you are able to help out by donating an item please contact us as soon as possible and have your item ready to be picked up by April 2, 2011 or drop them off at R’s Americantina (please tell the hostess that the item is for Kimberly), 410 Thompson Creek Center, Stevensville, MD 21666. By helping out you will receive a thank you from the Strawser family, and a receipt that can be used as a tax write off.
We greatly appreciate all of your help, thank you!
