Well...this one has me thinking... Mr. WL is out of town (again) and I just can't remember, but about 10 years ago I think we sailed into this club. I'm just not sure though...I do know that the channel was REALLY tricky, because we actually towed another boat off so they could get up into the marina. And for the record, it wasn't pretty getting that other boat off either...I remember hiding down low hoping the tow-line wouldn't snap and kill me or someone else! A couple years later we shed the sailboat for a trawler and went back again. Same thing happened in the channel, but this time (thank God) someone else was doing the tow... We were too far south to have been at CRYCC and I can't think of any other marinas in the area... I tried their website, but could not get it to load...Hmmm. Now I'm not sure where we were!!!

OK...Never mind! The tricky channel is at Great Oak. I was able to find the website for CRYC. Pretty place, but not exactly a "yacht club" by my experience.

I lived in Centreville nine years as well until I found out about it.. I guess it shows you just how good this secret has been kept ;-) This yacht club is on the corisa river on the right as your heading out (I would guess a little over half way to the mouth of the Corsica River). There is generally a tall flag pole on the property with the American Flag and the CRYC Burgee (really cool because the flag poles is made out of parts donated from different sale boats and assembled by the local boy scouts). There beautiful new pavilion there with a bathhouse, a new pier, a small beach and amazing views. There is no 'fancy buildings or restaurant' like alot of other yacht clubs. But what makes the CRYC 'simple' also keeps it beautiful in it's own way and really keeps the feel and traditions of the original members alive.. a place to enjoy family, friends, and the bay. The CRYC has recently become active with Gunston Day School junior sailing program and together they promote sailing on the Corsica River as well as the beautification of the Corsica River and it's banks. They have junior sailing for ages 6 - 16 during the summer. I highly recommend coming out this saturday from 11 - 3pm (look for the signage on 213 to lead you right to CYRC). There will also be some acoustic guitar music by local musicians, a cookout, and some things for the kids. Comet and laser sailboats will be doing some practice races which is always exciting to watch. You can also check out their website: www.cryc.org or on facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Corsica-River-Yacht-Club/207412562622673Regarding navigating the Corsica River, noone should have any problems. We race dingy sailboats there all the time and the owner of the Ravens, Steve Bisciotti drives his HUGE yacht up the Corsica to his vacation home.
