Last year, we had a couple of instances when I was out with the wife and little ones in our 21 foot CC, and had a couple of boats, come well within 20 feet of us while we are hanging out. This year it is starting again as more boats start cruising around. Instead of yelling, I am doing the paint ball gun. When this happens with two little first mates on board, and the sides are dipping down even to the water from the wake, I get pissed.

Probably not a good idea. The first time you hit someone without protective gear, or in the face, the cops will be called. They will arrest you for assault and intent to harm in front of your "little mates". Maybe water balloons or something less harmful would still get the point across.

Water balloons are a good idea, they are sold at Kmart a container of 75 water balloons for less than $5.
Now dont forget to clean up all the broken water balloon pieces or you might get fined for littering.
Just be careful because any idiot if hit with a paint ball or water balloon might pull out a shot gun and point it in your direction.

Water balloons could still be classified as assault.

I get a bull horn and give them $hit. Tossing throwing or lobbing anything at a moving vessel will land you in the pokie.

Reminds me of the good old days when the fishermen would throw old spark plugs at the blow boaters who cut across the trolling lines..

Ummmmm.....you're driven on the roads probably. Do you expect anything different on the water?

I do expect something a little different on the water. I am way out of the boating channel, and they can go 100 yards on either side of me with no problem. You know exactly the ones I am talking about that. The ones you see way off, thinking they will turn, and never do.
I might go with the bull horn approach. I like that one.

Look in to one of those "train" horns. Those are bad a$$ but pricey.
Throwing anything would be a bad idea
6 blasts on the train horn would be perfect, and legal.

probably all that would do is annoy property owners. the inconsiderates really don't care, do they?

Projectiles would probably not be a good idea. Floating buoys/rope/lane markers from a pool marking your perimeter of comfort, better idea. Best idea? I don't know. I'm not a boater.
