Since Love Point Cafe is no more, and most likely another restaurant will open in it's place, what would you like to see open there? I left out Seafood, Italian, & Chinese because we already have multiples of them. I would love a Japanese sushi place with the hibachi grillers for kids, or a really good German place like "The Old Stein" in Mayo. Of course the old Love Point Cafe' was really good too...

Being that the restaurant is in the 'heart' of downtown, it should represent the areas bounty. Love Point Cafe' did just that.

We have many other places to represent the areas 'bounty'...
Annie / Harris / Narrows do fine at that
We need variety. I'd love to eat at a tasty 'ethnic' place for lunch rather than fast food.

I agree with GBMike that we already have plenty of seafood eats around, and also with Rich and GB that ethnic or sushi ( something like Joss' in Annapolis) would be a welcome change.
My wife likes to argue the point with me that sushi is seafood - yea, but not the traditional we can get anywhere around here.

I'm going to Joss tonight The Crunchy Ebi Roll (shrimp), Shumai, and Lobster Roll are my favs. What ever happened to the fusion place that was going to open by "Club-1" in the old outlets? I remember something about the Yin-Yankee Cafe in Annapolis opening up in there. Mikey - I laughed at Ethiopian too, but I went to one in DC and it was actually really good - And a lot of food! It's a little weird because you eat with a spongy-bread and use it to pick up the food. I had a spicey shrimp and beans thing that looked aweful, but tasted great!

I ate at bay breeze cafe a couple of weeks ago in the industrial park, great food and a lot of good ideas. I think they should move in there because they don't get enough business back in the park.

What, no Moroccan choice......... ;D
The Bay times had an decent size article about the closing, and one little line about an anonymous phone call reporting the gift certificates sold before the closing....

I think I should open a nice kayak/smallcraft shop in there. We've got enough restaurants.
Can we add that to the poll? ;D

I think it should be left as is and reopened. Maybe someone can make it profitable. Where I came from in NY places like that make a mint. Good management and advertisement is the key I think. It took me 1 year of being hear before I heard of the place and their reputation.

Billw, They did advertise a lot in the Update and the fireman's coupon books. The place that was there before failed too, and they advertised locally as well. I think that it's just a bad location because nobody seems to think to go to Stevensville for whatever reason. I think that the bigger problem is getting people to know that 'downtown' even exists.

Maybe Meghan's should move in there. Everyone already knows about it and it was a great place to go.

I've had Ethiopian as well and it really was good, although kind an oxymoron of sorts. I'm with Bchevy...if he's being serious...I'd love to see a Moroccan place. Lived there for three years back in the 80"s and the food is excellent! ;D

My vote is for a coffee shop with a small stage for comedy, music and a free internet. Make a deal with the bike rental shop and a few other local store so that after you complete a activity, school sport and a few others you could come by and get a coffee on the house or the kids could get a smoothy for winning. A small profit but home town place. Oh did I not mention the top rail drinks if a coffee may not do it?
Dreams are fun...

I think that sounds good Mike. I think it would do good as long as the prices aren't to high.

There isn't a single place on Kent Island or in Grasonville that has good local seafood. I want fresh local rockfish, flounder even fresh fried bluefish with green beens and mashed potatos would be excellent. The problem is the packaged seafood that were getting forced down our throat!!!! I'm excluding steamed crabs because there are plenty of places to eat crabs. I want fresh local seafood prepared with common sense and nothing too fancy.
