Narrative:
Deputy Jordan responded to the CVS Pharmacy in Chester in regards to a shoplifting complaint. Store employees reported that a white female and white male entered the store and walked to the cosmetic aisle where both subjects then began to take multiple personal hygiene items of merchandise from the store shelf. They then left the store without paying for the items setting off security alarms. The suspects fled in a red Chevrolet Cavalier with Maryland tags.
The total amount of items stolen from the store was $379.81.

20K Jewelry Theft in Grasonville

Incident: Theft over $500 Date Reported: 04/05/09 @ 1431 Hours Location: Main Street, Grasonville,, Md Victim: Michael & Mary Purdy of Grasonville
Narrative:
The Queen Anne's County Office of Sheriff received a theft complaint from the victims on April 5th. The victims reported that they were missing forty-eight pieces of jewelry from the residence with a value of over $ 20,000. The victims advised that they had discovered the theft in March but had waited to report it until they had a detailed list of the missing items. No sign of forced entry was discovered. The investigation has been assigned to the Criminal Investigative Unit of the Sheriff's Office.

Narrative:
The Queen Anne's County Office of Sheriff received a complaint of a malicious destruction of property from the victim who reported that during the evening he heard a loud noise and looked out his window and observed a Sport Utility Vehicle speeding away from his mailbox. When he checked his mailbox in the morning he noticed that it was damaged. The mailbox was valued at $50.

The items were valued at an estimated $500.

The victim attended practice and returned to find the property missing.

School Resource Deputy, Dfc. Martin was contacted by V/P Sean Kenna of the high school in regards to an unruly student using profanity in the school. The student was given a series of instructions to follow which he failed to do. Additionally, Dfc. Martin also observed said behavior and issued verbal commands, which the suspect again ignored. The student was escorted off school property and released to his parents. Dfc. Martin filed for a juvenile referral on the juvenile suspect.

Dfc. Goodman was working stationary radar patrol in the area of Main Street @ Church Circle in Sudlersville, during which time he observed a vehicle traveling 37 / 25 mph zone. Dfc. Goodman made contact with the driver / defendant and discovered that the defendant did not have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the sheriff's office for processing then to the court commissioner's office.

Fatal MVA on Bennett Point

Incident: Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Date Reported: 4/6/2009 @ 1146 Hours Location: Bennett Point Road, Queenstown, MD. Victim: Susan Hughes Whitaker (71) of Queenstown, MD.
Narrative:
The Queen Annes County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a serious two vehicle collision on Bennett Point Road between Wye Harbor Road and Governor's Way Road near Queenstown. Upon arrival deputies found a 2006 Toyota Avalon passenger car had collided with a 2006 Volvo tractor and flat bed trailer. Both vehicles had left the roadway and came to rest in a field.
Preliminary investigation of the collision shows the Volvo was traveling north on Bennett Point after making a delivery of building supplies. The Toyota driven by Mrs. Whitaker was heading south on Bennett Point on her way to her residence on Governors Way. As the two vehicles approached each other, the Volvo went off the roadway to the right and then went to the left, at which time the trailer jackknifed striking the Toyota. At the time of the collision, the roadway was wet due to the weather.
Mrs. Whitaker suffered severe trauma and was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital by ambulance where she was pronounce dead at 1300 Hours. The Volvo tractor trailer is owned by Allied Building Products of East Rutherford, New Jersey and was driven by Charles D. George (51) of Cambridge, Md. He also was taken to Easton Memorial Hospital for lower back pain.
Bennett Point Road was closed due to the investigation of the collision for about four hours. The reconstruction and investigation is being conducted by the Queen Annes County Sheriffs Office and assisted by the MdTA Commercial Truck Enforcement. At this time no charges have been issued but may be pending.

Cpl Lowery responded to Bryce Rd, Queenstown, MD for an assault. Cpl Lowery met with the victim who told him that she was involved in an argument with her 16 year old daughter. During the argument her daughter pushed and kicked her. There were no physical signs of injury to either party. The mother refused to complete a written statement and said that she did not wish to have her daughter criminally charged.

Incident: False Report - Attempted Rape Date Reported: April 3, 2009 @ 1018 Hours Location: Queen Anne's County Detention Center
Arrested: William Lee Embrey (20) of Millington, MD. Charges: False Statement
Narrative:
Det. Stephen Stouffer of the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff Criminal Investigations Division received a complaint of an attempted sexual assault occurring at the detention center. Mr. Embrey reported that during the night of April 2, 2009, while incarcerated in the Queen Anne's County Detention Center, two other inmates attempted to sexually assault him in his cell. An investigation into allegations revealed that no such assault had occurred. Embrey subsequently confessed to having fabricated the story in order to be placed in protective custody while incarcerated. Det. Stouffer applied for and received an arrest warrant for Embrey for False Report. On April 8, 2009 the arrest warrant was served and Embrey was released back to the detention center on his personal recognizance.

Brockman met with a loss prevention officer who told him that a juvenile male had attempted to steal a music CD valued at $16.00. The suspect was arrested and referred to juvenile services by Dfc. Brockman. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents.

Deputy Kellogg responded to the area of Main St, Queenstown, MD in reference to a fireworks complaint. Prior to her arrival it was reported that 8 to 9 persons were on the roof of Potter's Pantry. On arrival she was unable to locate any evidence of illegal fireworks or any suspects. Deputy Kellogg did make contact with several residents without locating the offenders.

Suspected Cocaine found @ Crumpton

Narrative:
Dfc. Steenken was dispatched to 2nd Street, Crumpton, Maryland in reference to suspected cocaine being found. The victim stated that she observed an object lodged in her car's wheel well area and discovered that a cigarette pack was taped to her car by duct tape. When she opened the pack she found a baggie with three smaller baggies with white powder. Dfc. Steenken used a test kit which indicated the substance to be cocaine. The suspected cocaine was placed into evidence. The owner is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office to claim the item.
