People that live in DC are taxed and have NO representation. Perhaps that fuels the resentment and outrageous drug spending of some in the ghetto who feel THEY are being milked by the system. Oh, please..... DC has no congressional representation for a very valid reason....the same reason they are not a state: DC was designed to be an apolitical "no man's land" where the business of the nation could happen on neutral turf. It's been that way for over two hundred years, which by my calculation, should have been adequate time for anybody who doesn't like it to move elsewhere.

I guess its easy to oversimplify 200 years of racism and poverty in one fell swoop, isnt it? Then one doesnt have to think about it anymore.

The majority of the population in many other countries would love to be as poor as our poor in the USA. You don't know what poor is until you go to a third world country.

I guess its easy to oversimplify 200 years of racism and poverty in one fell swoop, isnt it? Then one doesnt have to think about it anymore. DC's political status has NOTHING to do with racism...if DC's residents were green with purple polka-dots, they STILL wouldn't be entitled to congressional representation because they choose to live in the capitol city. If you're trying to elicit feelings of white guilt from me, you're gonna have to try another victim. I'm not buying. Here's my version of your quote: "I guess it's easy to keep cultivating an obsession with finding racism under every rock. Then one is always armed with a handy excuse for never fulfilling their God-given potential." It's called "personal responsibility". It has no color. It's parents are neither poor nor rich. It sees opportunity where it finds it, takes the ball and runs. When you validate the handy "200 years of racism and poverty" malarkey, YOU've become the new oppressor....YOU are the one telling the denizens of the ghetto that there is a reason beyond their control that they need to stay. YOU are enabling the defeatist attitude that tells them that they need hand-outs to survive. The left keeps the urban poor on the end of a string, like a junkie dependent on a pusher for their next fix and then has the unmitigated gall to call people like ME the racists? You insinuate that I am ignorant of racism. I am not ignorant of racism, but I do reject it as a valid excuse for anything except motivation to do better to prove some a-hole wrong. I don't play Alinsky. Find another victim.

Stephadele - give us a break...I think you might be a bit confused about who you "think" you are preaching to here. Maybe you would do yourself and the rest of us a favor by thinking twice before you post such arrogant and self-righteous comments on these topics; you seem to think you are above us all and that some of us are not capable of forming our own, well-founded opinions. You are WRONG. I've reached the point where I can barely even stand to read your posts - they are extremely repetitious.

There are lots of poor immigrants who have come to this country, worked hard and become very successful. The opportunity is here, you just have to work for it.

Also, DC didn't become a "majority-minorty" city until the 1950's. So I guess that means for roughly the first 150 years of racism and poverty, it was directed at the Caucasian residents? I'm with misternuke, the race card is a losing hand on the representation issue, considering the overall history of the city.

The actions of Q.A. Deputy State's Attorney John Mark McDonald have reached the desk of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland.

it's all a conspiracy. officers don't show up, due to whatever reason, sick or deals already made before hand...so what. the judge runs the court room, it's not the officers or states attorneys that run it. the complaining is out of control. i'm shocked the trooper actually wrote the ticket...mustve been the end of the month....let's stir that pot....zing

Dude......Our troops are getting killed and maimed fighting for our Constitution. If we do not have JUSTICE in our court rooms I see it as a slap in the face to these brave Americans. Remember that citizens are found guilty when the cop fails to show up for court, and many of these citizens are Veterans.

Pete1 Yes, You are right! Justice should be applied equally to all! But sometimes the Job you have has certain privileges, and not to use those privileges would just be dumb!
You served as a police officer and I feel extremely confident that you took advantage of your special privileges.
I know I did!

Deep Sea......Circumventing the law is not a privilege, it's criminal.....example = Cop stops a pretty girl for personal reasons when there was legal reason to make the stop.........Privilege = Parking spots for the big shots, or a take home car for the cop.

I think you have that backwards. Cops stop a pretty girl for a legal reason but let her go because she is pretty.

Remember that citizens are found guilty when the cop fails to show up for court, and many of these citizens are Veterans. Some have suggested that the war in Iraq is more of a vendetta than a defense of the US Constitution. This intense focus on a speeding ticket could be a quest for justice but it certainly feels like a vendetta.

"Some" are usually way smarter than "They".
