I hope everyone's meal turns out good but... I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Just like any Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays and the like, Cracker Barrell food is all frozen and made in a packaging plant somewhere. There isn't any chef or cook back there making the food like "mom use to make" unless "mom" made a lot of frozen dinners. They have to cook the meat that is ordered but even chicken nowawadays comes frozen with all the seasoning and you can quick fry it in 6 minutes. If you want your green beans to taste like pork, put some bacon fat in the water your cooking them in. I have worked in a lot of restaurants and with a food manufacturer, so I am not making this up. I hope that your meal turns out good and that you don't have to wait that long. I agree. Cracker Barrel is good but no way possible would I deal with a line like that to eat there. To many other places to eat and yes Holly's is one of them... ;D

I used to tell people how cool it was that I lived somewhere that was pretty much local restaurants or chains outside of the fast food venue (McDonalds, Dominos, Hardees, etc) Now, we have a Cracker Barrell just like every other gas and food exit in this country. The food's OK, but come on, did we really need this? The food is plain and not fresh, why on earth would you wait in a huge line for that junk?! And now some jacka$$ wants to put a Ruby Tuesday's here? Drive to Annapolis if you want more of the same, lets keep KI fresh, local, and unique.

Oh heaven forbid that the first thing people see coming off the bridge is a Cracker Barrel.By all means bring back the trailer slum that was there before, maybe the tattoo shop too. Granted ,Cracker Barrel isn't heaven but it's a choice.I hear all this talk of "I feel sorry for the mom and pops that have to compete now".In my opinion ,if a business has been holding you over the barrel of high cost and lousy quality for years just because they were the only game in town,"Mom and Pop" deserve to go out of business when they refuse to step up their game after a competitor shows up in the arena. I'm not saying who is going to shut their doors first but, Cracker barrel served me a piece of country ham as big as my plate that was out of this world. Mrs' B's served me an omelet just barely bigger than a man's wallet that tasted like everything else that was cooked on their grill that day. Everyone is entitled to their opinion,so I thought I would share mine.

Methinks you are exaggerating.. or maybe you got an omelet off the breakfast special menu with only two eggs? I just had a H&C omelet yesterday morning at Mrs B's.. when the plate was delivered I thought there was no way I was going to be eble to eat the whole omelet and the home fries that came with it.. I couldn't. I have eaten breakfast at Mrs. B's a dozen or more times since opening.. I have never been shortchanged on food or been disappointed. I have however eaten in many Cracker Barrels over the years. Talk about a place where all the food tastes the same.. But, to each his own.. Best regards, BC

Aren't we all so lucky to live in America and have CHOICES of where we'd like to eat or not. Great thing about being an american - if you don't like frozen, chainstore food, you don't have to eat. If you do like the consistency that comes from large corporate standards, you can have that.
Seems like between Cracker Barrel and Mrs. B's everyone can be happy, right??

Oh good grief people. If you want the taste of Home cooking....
STAY HOME AND COOK.
If you want the convenience of not cooking and eating out and want edible food.....Lot's of places to choose from.
Some people like this....some people like that....A variety is what is needed.
Whether you like a place or not is cool.....but stop comparing.... when there is no comparison...they all have their good and their bad points.....
(still in WV, just easier to log in rather than type my name and some code each time)!

Well we did the CB for dinner tonight. Got there at 1730. Seated in 20 mins. Waited on in 10 mins. then sat for about 20 mins or so. Ok here's the break down; Good things: not a real long wait for such a big crowd. service not to bad, waitress was a 'new' waitress. clean. pretty good prices. Bad things: couldnt get onion rings before our meal. had to flag a different waitress for more coffee, didnt see our waitress. my county fried chicken was deep fried crisp almost total through. my dumplings were cold mid pile. fried apples were room temp. steak fries were barely warm as were the onion rings.
I dislike going to a new place near opening but hubby wanted to try it. I will chalk it up to just opening maddness. Ill wait a month or so & then go back before I decide if its a good place or not. I have high hopes for it though.

So... I tried Cracker Barrel last night. It was good. There was no wait when I got there so we were seated immediately. I had the Chicken and Rice with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, and carrots with Raspberry Lemonade. It was really good. The service was slow, but I expected that since they are a new restaurant. But the food came out really fast. Over all I was happy with it. As for the store... Its really nice. The prices are kind of high ( I am un aware of the prices at the other Cracker Barrels). There are many people working there and they are all pretty friendly.

We stopped by after work at about 6:20 to see what the wait would be -were told that it would be approx. 55 minutes for a table for two.
What a difference in the wait compared to Sharon who got there 50 minutes earlier - I guess we hit it with the rush hour crowd.
Too long for me to wait, so we headed to Squisitos and had our usual reliable meal there.
Will try CB once things seem to calm down.

Went to Cracker Barrel tonight. Waited about 50 min. Worth it. Food was wonderful, service was wonderful. Gift shop had lots of sale items, but it was so crowded with people waiting for tables in the restaurant that you couldn't get near much of the stuff to check the prices. It is so nice to have a restaurant that you can rely on to always have a good meal. And the prices are so reasonable, unlike most of the restaurants on and around Kent Island. Only thing is, the whole time I was there I felt like I was traveling. Couldn't believe I was almost in my back yard.

I was in Bowie today working and tonight around 7:30 when I was coming home, I couldn't believe how PACKED the place was. Best wishes for their business -- and I am still waiting for Adams Ribs.

I didn't say anything about the food. I'm sure it's the same, OK Cracker Barrel food I've eaten for over a decade in many different states. Shame on me for expressing my opinion about Cracker Barrel on Kent Island in a forum ABOUT Cracker Barrel on Kent Island.
Cracker Barrels are the same everywhere. I just don't get the big deal. If you do, say so and why cd.

They make the biscuits and corn muffins fresh every am; not pre made pkged food. The kitchen is made up in 3 sections: ovens for baking and preparing- prep area where they prepare the baked goods and garnishes, salads, etc- and the stove section where big pots are set up for cooking; the turnip greens, green beans dumplins, etc. I can't even begin to tell you how many people work in that kitchen just cooking and preparing the foods that all of you like to eat. I have never worked at a restaurant like this before. It's amazing!

I did carry-out from CB last night. Had the wife call it in when I was at the Severn River Bridge and only had to wait for about 5-10 min. It was so worth it; as I overheard the hostess telling people coming in that it was a 70min. wait, and this was at about 7 pm. I think I will probably forgo coming and eating there until things really die down (maybe after the holidays). I liked being able to pick it up on the way home, get home, watch some TV after a 14 hr. day, and completely not have to worry about cooking ;D!

Yep they sure do! ;D That's pretty much all I do if I get anything from an Island restaurant on a work day. It just makes things so much easier; call on my way home and usually not much waiting. Any way here's their number 410-643-3841. Happy ordering!
