I am surprised THIS is not a topic on KIO? I didn't see it anywhere, but could have missed it. I am sure there are many different opinions on the scheduled execution tonight. I am wondering how everyone feels about this subject?
Personally, I am not against the Death Penalty per say, however, I COULD NOT, be on a jury deciding on a death penalty case. I could NOT live with myself for being responsible for "choosing" to put someone to death. I would carry too much guilt. I DO believe such criminals as Muhammad "deserve" what they get. Aside from the cost of keeping a person in prison for life, I think spending the rest of one's life locked in a cell, would be hell on earth and would actually be more suffering on a person then being put to death by medication in an IV.
These are just my OPINIONS, no right, no wrong, just my personal feelings. Some might agree, or strongly disagree....I am interested in the opinions of others on KIO!!!! Please share...

I could sentence him to death without missing any sleep over it what so ever. The guy killed numerous people without cause or remorse, he doesn't need to feed off taxpayers the rest of his natural life.
Eye for an eye and all that.

You never know what you could do until you are actually faced with that decision....We all have a perception of how we think we should/would/could react if in that particular circumstance...But you really truly never know until you are in that position... I am for the death penalty. The sooner the better. Can't stand to see anyone sitting on death row for years bilking the tax payers because of this or that. Once sentenced, I believe you get one appeal and if denied....immediate execution. What this man did was horrible. Lethal injection is too easy for him. They should chain him to tree somewhere out on the Beltway and make him sit there wondering, waiting ....with each passing vehicle is this the sniper? ?

I agree, lethal injection is too easy. He should be shot. The entire metro area was living in total fear as a result of his actions and he took the lives of completely innocent people. I'll never forget when I was working on Discovery's Headquarters in Silver Spring during that time and all of the "false alarms" that occurred throughout the day. Everyone was on edge. You never knew when or where the bastard was going to turn up next!

He would experience the same terror he instilled in all of us. I also agree that lethal injection IS too easy!

I guess I need to pick up some popcorn. I wonder if it will be televised? Maybe pay-per-view. I will actually sleep better knowing this dirtbag is not one of the living. I'm glad he didn't get 30 years of appeals.

I support the death penalty. 100%. I could sit on a jury easily and "decide" to put someone to death if that is what the crime called for. I have already been present at one trial and given testimony that assured a useless piece of garbage went to the electric chair and I have never for one moment lost so much as one second of sleep over it.
I agree lethal injection is too easy. Way too easy.

Hopefully, his execution will bring closure or some semblance of closure to all affected by what he did. Obviously, those family members and friends of the victims were affected far more than the rest of us, however, the impact to most of us in this area cannot be understated; I think about it when I pass Rt. 197 (Tasker Middel School) driving down Rt. 50, and pass by the Home Depot in Falls Church each morning on my way to work - I remember clearly the day after Linda Franklin was killed, driving down Arlington Blvd past the Home Depot, seeing the media and police; it was an eerie feeling.
Good riddance Muhammad!

Bring back the chair and let him sit in it for a hour or two before they pull the switch! The needle is to good for him.

They should televise this, I would bet murder would decrease by 50% just knowing what is in-store WHEN you get caught.

The first five shootings occured just miles from where my brother and his family live, and there were rumors that same day that the unknown shooter(s) were spotted heading into Frederick Co (where my parents lived). Those weeks were terrifying because the shootings moved from one area to another, and you didn't know if you were safe in a parking lot or at a gas station. My daughter still teases me about walking "zig-zags" thru parking lots, but there was so much terror and fear. Finding out that Muhammed and Malvo were caught just miles from my parents' house was disconcerting, but it was such a relief to know that it was "over".
Ambivalent as I am about the death penalty, he received his day in court and had the opportunity to present a defense. He did what he did, and now his sentence is due, and all I can think is that I hope that his victims and their families may one day find a sense of peace.

I am surprised his execution is taking place "so quickly". I thought most people stayed on death row for years. The appeals process is very expensive and lengthy. The only problem with putting this on television is that the Muslim extremist will look up to him as a hero.

His lawyer is on TV saying the sniper is talkative tonight. He says he has no regrets and he would not change a thing and still maintains his innocence. Pffft

How do you all feel about the kid sniper Malvo? I think he got life without the possibility of parole. Do you think that was the correct sentence? I would not be surprised if years down the line he gets out one way or another.

JARRATT, Virginia — The mastermind of the 2002 sniper attacks that killed 10 in the Washington, D.C., region has been executed.
A prison spokesman says John Allen Muhammad died by injection at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday at Greensville Correctional Center.
Muhammad was executed for killing Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during the spree that terrorized Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., over a three-week period. His teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, was sentenced to life in prison.
Prison spokesman Larry Traylor says Muhammad had no final words. He says he didn't hear him utter a word the entire time.

Guillotine - face up with rusty slides! Good idea, better than mine. As to Lee Boyd, I have a bit of sympathy for him, given the circustances that came out at trial. His sentence was correct, with the understanding that he does not get out. John Allen screwed him up good and he is not safe to walk the streets again. I bet he gets out, it might not be for many years but I bet someone makes the decicision to let him out in the future.

The sniper shootings were a scary and unnerving time. He got the just punishment for the crime he committed. Justice has been served.

I check youtube for news footage of that time.. I seriously remember shatting bricks when that kid was shot in Bowie. I remember going to watch a Ravens game in Columbia, on the way back I took a guy I worked with home and he lived in Piney Orchard. We pulled up out front of a gas station so he could get cigarettes.. but I pulled across the parking spots by the door and he ran in a zigcag pattern to the door. I remember getting gas and walking not in a straight line to pay. But hey... he is dead, he knew it was coming... unlike the others.
What does that book say, an eye for an eye?

He got life without parole, do you agree with that sentence? In my opinion, he did what he did because he was instructed to do it by John Muhammad.
