Would you support a smoking ban in restaurants in Queen Anne County?

Hell yes! I can't stand reaking like smoke when I come home from a place like Big Bats or Meighans. The only problem I think is that it would send a lot of business across the Bay Bridge. I really would like to see a state wide ban over a county ban. The Talbot County ban seems to have really hurt a lot of businesses.

Yes. I'd support one in the state, and while you're at it, why not ban cigarettes period?

I was in Big bats on Sunday and ended up leaving because the smoke cloud was so bad. My eyes were itching and I started having trouble breathing - no joke. A smoking ban would be wonderful. I know that you won't catch me in Big Bats until something like that happens here.

Well, hopefully some of these restaurant owners will see this and give some thought to going smoke-free.

I am all for making bars & restaurants smoke free. However, in all fairness to Big Bats, they do have a smoke free area of the restaurant that is totally separate. The bar area is a different story, but you're not going to find any smoke free bar areas in any restaurant until there is a ban. I hope that they just make all of MD a smoke free state soon!

Delaware still does great biz even though they have a ban, so why cant we. You go to the bar to drink, not smoke. If you want to smoke go to a cigar bar. If smoking was more popular than drinking then everybody would be at, or at least would have heard of the cigar bars.

The new bar & restaurant that is going in next to the Jeweler's in the "Acme" mall is going to be smoke free. Just thought everyone who is for the smoking ban would be interested in that. It will be nice to go somewhere and not come home smelling so bad!

Great, another location to go. It's a shame I love the Jetty in the summer. I go there once a week at least but will not go there in the winter with the bar area closed in. The smoke kills me. I wish they would do something about this. There are to many locatons that I stay away from on the island as well because of the smokers. The restaurants need to wake up. The island is becoming Annapolis East, thus Yuppies and fewer smokers. As new resturants come here things will change. We need more resturants. I am getting used to going back over the bridge to Annapolis. They should also have coupons for the locals like they do in Vegas.

At this point I'm not sure when exactly they are going to open. Everything is done they are just waiting for their liquor license. It is going to be like Meighan's where it is more of a bar that serves food. It is going to be the type of place that has a lot of really good wines and serves small dishes (mezzes). Hopefully it will be a nice place that we can go and have a good time without the smoke and the "wrong crowds" that some of the other bars in the area seem to attract!

Yes, mezzes are the same things as tapas which are essentially the same thing as appetizers. It just depends on what the ethnic food of the restaurant is! I'm not too sure what their's will be. I heard a rumor that it has "little plates" in it's name. Anyway, yes it is becoming a fad. My husband and I love this place in D.C. called Zaytinya - I highly recommend it. It is nice to get a bunch of different things at one time. Can't wait for them to open!

Excuse me David, but what the hell gives you the right to call all smokers bad people and down the bars around the island. I am not a bad person because I smoke and neither are any of the people that I know. Your statement is one of the most ridiculous and stereotypical things that I have ever read. Maybe you should go back to Alexandria where your awesome fad exists if you don't like the way it is here. Next time watch your mouth. I don’t appreciate the fact that just because you are from across the bridge you think you have the right to degrade what we have here because I like it just the way it is, so if you don’t maybe you and your non-smokers, or “good people” should make sure you don’t accidentally walk into one the dirty dive bars down the road.

Well, everyone, I am sorry to tell you that I was misinformed about the new bar. Apparently they will not be a smoke free establishment. It should still be really nice though. Good food & good wine. Again, I am sorry for the bad information that I was given.

Wow - Toothless white trash! If you think that the Island Inn or No Place are full of upstanding citizens - then you must: A) Live in a trailor or old run-down shack, B) Like country music, C) Like NASCAR, D) Voted 'W', E) Drive a pick-up truck with a "3" in the window, F) are missing at least two teeth, G) Have at least 1 car on your front lawn, or H) All of the above.
Now go on and watch your Dukes of Hazard re-runs, listen to your religious right-wing music (country), drink your beer from a can, Censored Bad Word Here about "them chiken-neckers", head on up to the Island Inn and smoke/drink a few, then beat the crap out of some tatooed loser because his Harley is better than yours.
How does that feel? Change is not always good, but improvements are. If you don't like my stereotyping you, then you should quit wth the nasty comments about other residents. I only wrote these things to show you how your comments feel towards people that you are railing against. Blame the MD government and your local QA government for making KI a growth area years ago, not the people moving here.

Gee, I'm sorry PAM but I don't recall being the one that said "I think that by making the place a non smoking establishment, it will keep out the bad crowd from the nasty dive down the road." Or how about this, so you say, stereotypical comment, "Wow - Toothless white trash! I am just defending myself here and as for your multiple choice question, my answer is FU: None of the above. But that’s all I have to say right now because being the stupid, white trash, hillbilly, redneck that I guess I am because you say so, I am just not as quick as you are to make up a multiple choice for why you are a hypocrite. But tell me this, if I am the toothless white trash here then why do I know how to properly spell the word trailer and you don’t.

Wow. You completely missed the point of my Email. I threw out those stereotypes to show you the flip-side of how your posts are toward a good deal of residents...but it was lost on you. Kudos for pointing out my mis-spell though. Your brilliant.

No, the point is that I don't care about the flip-side of anything or how I make you feel or anybody else for that matter. The people that are migrating here obviously don't care how I feel or any other local so why should I care about their feelings. And the next time you attempt to insult someone try spelling a simple word like “trailer” correctly because that just makes you look like the white-trash, kind of like your latest insult saying, “Kudos for pointing out my mis-spell though. Your brilliant”. I mean I know I may not be brilliant like you say I am but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you actually misspelled the word “misspell”, the “your” you are so wittingly thinking of is “you’re” and your sentence fragment should have had a comma, not a period. Come on, how can you actually attempt to attack the dignity of someone and yet at the same time misspell the word “misspell”! Look I am through playing childish games with you; if you have nothing better to say about your opinion on the development of Kent Island or why its o.k. for idiots to testify that all people that smoke are part of the “bad crowd” then I am not going to waste anymore of my time on you. But you better hurry if you do have something to say, cause’ da state told me dey wus gonna turned off my lectricity and make me move my dublewide up da crick so dey could put up one dem fancy buildins.

Smokers may not be part of a "bad crowd", but by smoking in this day and age, with what we know now, they aren't very smart. It's a bad habit that is only harming yourself. I don't want a ban either. Let Darwinism go to work...
