Just wanted you to know how much you SUCK!
1. Blueberrys - rotten w/ mold!! 2. Strawberrys - green. 3. Steaks - SUCK 4. Baby Bella Mushrooms - MORE MOLD!!!!! 5. Tomatoes - Mooshy!
Your perishables SUCK! Quality perishables are key to a good grocer!
You should really consider closing and letting a REAL grocer serve the residents of KI as we deserve better for our money.

If you all stop shopping there, they will close.

But then if they closed, we'd have to sign petitions to save them!
SAVE SAFEWAY! SAVE SAFEWAY! SAVE SAFEWAY! SAVE SAFEWAY! SAVE SAFEWAY!

If you all stop shopping there, they will close. Believe me, my wife only goes there when she absolutely has to. God I wish we had a Harris Teeter!!!!

The service is very poor. I have had strawberries and blueberries mold by the next day. Prices through the roof. I will never sign a save Safeway petition.

That's a shame. I've never had a problem there. Of course, I eat meat and potatoes. Not much of a veggie person.

Best way to get it to change is everything produce wise you don't like, or doesn't last like it should... Return it. It's a hassle, but when it hurts their pockets, they'll do something!

All true, and it is still the best grocery store on the island.

All true, and it is still the best grocery store on the island. And that's just sad, sad, sad... It is true that returning items is a pain in the a$$ - BUT - it really does work! A couple of us did it in Easton (at the Acme) a few years back and trust me...you would not believe the result! Of course, you must remember they are UNION...not sure about Safeway here, but, ACME..got to have those 10-minute breaks for cell-phone calls and "I can't help to bag your items...I'm not allowed, I'm on my break..." STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES PEOPLE!!! Return that rotten meat, molded fruit & cheese, the soured milk & creamer... They have to take it back if you want to return it!

Never had a problem with safeway. I'm not sure any business runs perfectly. Who on this site owns and operates a business ? Anyone ? Let us know which business you own. I'm sure this group won't be able to find any flaws. Keep up the good work people and keep bashing.

That's some great logic you've got there.

I'm sure this group won't be able to find any flaws. Keep up the good work people and keep bashing. I help operate a business here on the island and I have no interest in letting you know which one it is. If a business becomes complacent and believes they don't need to keep their customers happy then they need to hear the criticism. Ideally, the criticism would be directed to the manager of the business but if that fails, then making that criticism known publicly in a constructive way can be useful. Let's hope Safeway hears this message and corrects the issues.

Just wanna say: I haven't encountered the gross produce there yet (Thank God!) but I did find a really rotten lady working the sandwich counter! I don't remember her name I only remember that she had glasses which really doesn't help as I have been back at Safeway since my encounter with the Sand-Witch (Puns!!) and I've seen at least three other ladies with glasses back there. Anyway, this lady was unnecessarily rude to me when I asked her if she had any soft cheeses to put on a sandwich. She literally grunted at me, kind of frowned and hesitantly pointed to the mozzarella. When I took a few seconds to choose my cheese she loudly proclaimed "NEXT!" and proceeded to try to "help" the next customer in line. Needless to say I did not get my sandwich there.

Remember - those bad employees at local businesses like Safeway are your friends and neighbors. Don't whine - calmly write a note or stop by and talk to management. They probably really want to have their job secured with satisfied customers.

Harris Teeter was just bought by Kroger. Don't know if it will still operate as Harris Teeter. Then there is Trader Joe's which tends to have smaller stores and trades on good pricing. No meat or fish department, tho, and light on fresh produce. Graul's of Annapolis supposedly looked at the ACME location near Hardee's but concluded that Kent Island doesn't have the population density to support even a Graul's.
