Just wanted to voice a concern about how people drive in Cloverfields. The posted speed limit is 25 - I know this seems too slow when you've got to get the kids to soccer practice or you're late for work, or you want to show off for your high school buddies. But please remember that this neighborhood is full of children who will be outside even more with warmer weather coming. Unfortunately, it usually takes a tragedy before anyone does anything like traffic calming humps or anything like that. But I'm seeing people (usually ones with small children) put up signs in their yard reminding people to drive sensibly and it's a shame that they have to do that. Cloverfields does not have sidewalks and the roads are not very wide so people have to use the roads for walking and biking. Please be courteous and safe!

Just wanted to voice a concern about how people drive in Cloverfields. You can enter ANY neighborhood name there, or ANY parking lot, and even the lots at KENT ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL, I know of AT LEAST 2 wrecks at the school, on school property, Both caused by Speed, and running a stop sign. STOP for STOP signs, that's what they're for. I do NOT want speed humps, bumps, or traffic calming on my street or any street. ADULTS & PARENTS: Slow your butts down! KIDS: see the adult line just above! LAW ENFORCEMENT: Do your job. get out in the daylilght, in the neighborhoods and give out some tickets

They actually talked about looking into pricing to put calming humps on the streets in the last community meeting...

Totally agree. Especially with "150" kids (seems like it) turning 16 in the neighborhood. Please remind your neighbor & yourself that a neighborhood is not the place to speed. If you maim, paralyze or kill a child - Remember - You will REMEMBER and have to live with that fact and the nightmares the rest of your life.

I know a lot of people don't like them - but calming humps are a good solution. And they are engineered to be driven over at 25 mph. So you don't have to slow down to 10mph like you do with "speed bumps" - humps are good for making sure that people are being safe.
And not just the speeding - but why do kids feel they need to rev their engines and "peel wheels" all day and night? This is a major problem in Cloverfields and it's extremely disruptive.
Where does the neighborhood association stand on this?

Speed humps just plain stink, I drive a service truck with bins, parts and stuff, it a PITA for speed humps, not to mention the hot rods I fool with wont even think about going over a speed hump no matter how you engineer it. A neighborhood association would have no authority on this one, it starts with parents, Kids/new drivers practice what they saw growing up for 16 years. After that it's called law enforcement. If you see it, REPORT IT, dont report it if you cant back it up by filing a complaint. Most people wont do that part. and the problem stays.

I am *strongly* in favor of speed bumps, speed humps, or just a big pit with sharp stakes. I am sick and tired of 50-60-70 MPH traffic on residential streets. I have called 911 so many times I have it on speed dial to report all the speeding cars and illegal dirtbikes and they have not been able to do much. If I would have known the extent of the loud cars and speeding I would have NEVER moved here. I thought it was a residential area, not a race track for moronic kids and a contest area to see who can have the loudest pickup.

It's not just Cloverfields. Here in Bay City we have people screaming up and down with loud pickups, Harleys, and any other obnoxious thing that there is. I see the police giving out tickets in Chester on Main Street by the new circle all of the time, but never anywhere else. The funny thing is that the speed limit is only 30MPH on that portion of Main Street and it should be 40. The police are just being a-holes by ticketing over there where there aren't any residential houses around and by ignoring the neighborhoods and especially route 8 by me where people routinely go 60MPH and above even by the elementary school.

Let's NOT forget the SOCCER MOMS in their SUV's. They are not in the clear on this one. I had one PASS ME ON VICTORIA DR. In Bay City. IF I had seen here coming I would have put her in the creek. And the same thing goes for the MORON in the SUV who tried to pass me in the rain, at night, on route 8, on the double lines in front of the KI Depot, or the White pickup who tried it on the shoulder. I drive a LITTLE over the limits on good days, and a little UNDER the limits in the rain or worse weather. IF you have a problem with that you have 2 options: 1: Go back to driving school and learn the rules again. 2: LEAVE EARLIER next time, it's not my fault that you're late. Beyond that, look out because I have very good brakes. Remember: There's LOTS of WILDLIFE around, you never know when it's gonna jump out in front of me while you're on my bumper.

Angry Cloverfields Guy - I feel ya! Maybe we should all start calling the sheriff's office and asking them to patrol in Cloverfields. If we bug them enough maybe they will try to help. And it's not just the speeding - it's the peeling wheels and revving the engines all day and night. To these guys... Nobody is impressed that you have a loud engine! Grow up!

The neighborhood I came from would NEVER have tolerated all the speeding and other forms of juvenile deliquency that are the daily fare in Cloverfields. Some of the kids seem to wish they were living in SE DC and do their best to recreate the atmosphere of drug gangs on every corner. I cannot figure out how parents don't realize that cars with loud stereos stopping at their house every night at all hours for 10 minutes and leaving again = their kid selling drugs. Do you think he sits outside all night because he is studying astronomy? At first I thought it was just how the locals were, but after I got to know some people it seems that right before Cloverfields and KI in general got expensive a wave of "white trash" came over here from the western shore

At first I thought it was just how the locals were, but after I got to know some people it seems that right before Cloverfields and KI in general got expensive a wave of "white trash" came over here from the western shore So how's about you find out whatever your old neighborhood did that was so good and do it here? It was probably in the cycle, in the old age part of it. It's all a cycle, and if you old neighborhood didn't have it, it will. Young families grow up, kids start driving, Kids grow up, start their own family. it's all in the cycle, Loud music = Drugs? not hardly, maybe some but certainly not all. Did ya notice people don't WAVE anymore?I did. I wave at people walking in my neighborhood, MOST of them look at me like I'm nutz.... A couple wave back in shock. Here's an idea, WAVE BACK! Get to know your neighbors instead of assuming "that's how locals are" Chances are they aren't "locals" but more transplants like you, and ME. Living here doesn't make you, or me a local, 20 years hasn't and I expect another 20 years won't. and no, I'm not defending the all night kids on the block, mine aren't out there I can tell ya that. IT'S 11:00PM, DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE?If not, you should, OR you'll get the call! There's not much for kids around here during the day, THERE'S NOTHING FOR THEM ON THE STREETS AFTER 10PMEnd rambling now

You SHOULD be calling the Sheriff's department. If your having problems, let THEM handle it. Call Sheriff Crossley and let him know what's going on in your neighborhood. Don't let the problem kids hold you hostage in your own neighborhood.
FYI: The Sheriff's position is an elected position. If you don't like how he runs the department, vote him OUT! Next election: This November.

I would like to add to watch your speed on Love Point Road. The speed limit is only 40 until you pass Lots Road (or maybe further). I live right across from the farm and don't feel comfortable walking anywhere near the road.

I'm glad to see the majority of folks generally seem to be against speeding. I'd like to add Bentons Pleasure to the list of places where a few bad apples are taking the quality of life down a notch - folks speeding and random kids on dirt bikes. The legal limit officially became 25 mph in all of Bentons Pleasure about 18 months ago when four speed limit signs were installed (one was actually sawed off at the knees, probably by the homeowner, but it was soon replaced). The need was obvious, new houses were being built and soon after many new kids were out playing. The speeding has decreased lately, but I think some folks still want Bentons Pleasure to be the country access road it used to be and zip down the road almost running down redistrians like me and my family. To folks living there, old and new - Bentons Pleasure is now a residential street, so please accept that and slow down to 25.
Many thanks.

lets think about this a little,
yes you are right people speed and need to slow down before someone gets hurt or killed, I find myself frequently yelling when people fly by me when im standing on the side of the street but you are looking at this the wrong way. Yes some are young kids... and some are old, some are parents and some are you .. get my point, speed humps... not the answer seen them they dont work ... low riders find ways around them. big trucks love them and EMS hates them because they slow them down to a crawl and throw their providers and patients around in the back of the units I myself am young but old enough to know that I had my time when I got my license and drove fast and sometimes reckless, maybe not like some kids do now but I did, and there’s a 95% chance you did too. I have been raised in cloverfields, here before the population went through the roof. I remember being 8 years old racing go-carts and dirt bikes around on the DIRT ROADS that most of the people on here can’t say they ever saw. As far as you people saying how much better your OTHER community was. go back too it and don’t let the bridge smack you in the A$$ on the way out. I have been here long enough to say I have seen allot of good people that I welcome to the community and others that do nothing but drag your big city life kids and problems here with you GET OUT. This is a place that people live where they Wave to their neighbors and mean it, not wave then go on some website and stab them in the back and talk about them. About the police problem..... Yes maybe they need to up it a little or more but....... It’s kinda hard when there are only 2 or 3 on this side of the COUNTY at any given time. I think our sheriffs do an ok job with what they can. we need more to get these problems solved, not better quality. Let’s look at some other problems that have been mentioned. I know I am not the only one that has had little thugs hanging out in front of my house, walking down the middle of the road, or even more then once snooping through my back yards, what did I do...... Not call the cops and cry. CONFRONT THEM if your old or scared get someone else to. There is a good chance that if you call the police they will be too far away to get there in time to catch them. FOLLOW Them watch where they go see where they live then tell the cops that. In the big city you may have had police that were allowed to hurry to a scene or act but here you can call and say you see someone breaking into your house, and sometimes the police are not even allowed to use lights and siren to get there. UNTILL WE TAKE PROBLEMS INTO OUT OWN HANDS NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE. I don’t mean to go hurting or killing someone because that does not make you any better then them. WE NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND FIND OUTHER WAYS TO FIX THIS. anyways I think I have vented a little, I’m sure that there is more to come but not now. For any of you who were wondering, I’m not afraid to put up a screen name I just haven’t been able to get a up and running username yet but it will probably be KI CHRIS anyways just tell me what you feel positive or negative.

FYI There are only 2 maybe 3 deputies that work the entire county at one time. They respond to calls and then are required to go to a stationary radar position until they get another 911 call. crossley has run the agency like tis for years even when I was a Deputy several years ago.

The police are worthless even when they see somebody breaking the law. I had one tailgating me on my way home through Cloverfields last week. Yes, I was going the speed limit. He was on my bumper the whole time. During that time, two people ran stop signs and another was flying down Nichols Manor, all right in front of him. Did he do anything? NOPE!
