I think they send the cars to some shop in Prince George's County for the lights and sirens. I think it is somebodies friend that does the work and charges the county!

Someone please tell me when and where these fundraisers will be taking place. Since my old friend ur guest is nowhere to be found, I have no way of finding out. Are they advertised anywhere? I mean afterall, so many people/businesses were in such a fight to host these events, that I cant find info anywhere and I DO want to attend to witness firsthand all the on-goings.

There might only be "10 bitter people" posting all of this nonsense about the local rinky dink police force, but there are a butt-load of people reading the endless rants from the obvious ex-employees, wanna-be employees, supporters of the previous leaders, supporters of the next up leaders, and the basic "screw the man" types. As of a few minutes ago the who's been on here over the past 24 hours:

Yes, but don't give up on human intelligence yet -- I have a feeling amongst the 5 Staff Members, 55 Members, 365 Guests, 1 Invisible User, that more than one have this thought going through their mind "Me think thou doest protest tooooooooo much"! ;D

It was standing room only. Final count was 158 people. Did none of you see the article in Sunday's paper.
You can catch it again in tomorrow's Bay Times.
The event was packed. There was no room for parking and the event had standing room only. It was a great time and I wish more of you had attended.
It was clear that the majority supports the Sheriff.

158 people with how many politicians? How many people were ordered to be there? 46000 people in QA County - 158 people at a fundraiser does not = the majority. Haha, your funny!

Polllease, Push the riding lawn mower issue, He will know what you are talking about! It is appalling to be a tax paying citizen in this county and know what is going on, like you said THE TRUTH NEEDS TO COME OUT! You are absolutely right that people are so naive and don't see the big issues that are going on. Hopefully who is running against him will bring these issues out.

Perfect example: The tax paying citizens are complaining about speeding issues on Old Love Point Road. This would be a PERFECT use for the black unmarked Expedition or black unmarked F-150 pick up truck both with state of the art radar systems mounted installed inside of them. Put these vehicles to good out in the communities so that the tax paying citizens can see them! But I am sure that will never happen!

Now, now........those black unmarked expedition and gazoo's F-150 with the state of the art radio, lights, radar and all that other crap are not for everyday police work. I mean, if that were the case, when would those guys get to use their vehicles off-duty to ride around in Delaware and all over maryland and pull the trailers with the john deere tractors and stuff?
Silly guest, trix are for kids

Give it a rest man. It looks like the same two people are posing as 5 or 6 here and are nothing but disgruntled ex-employees or wannabes. It's a safe bet that most people in our area are perfectly ok with the Sheriff and his deputies. Now you and your "guest" alter-egos go ahead and tell me that I'm wrong. Pathetic. At least Pete has the balls to say who he is when stating his case.

I keep hearing people crying about the suv and truck. Today I went to annapolis, spotted 2 black suv's, a 05 or newer mustang and a dodge charger cop car..
None of these are good on gas, but people aren't complaining about the bridge cops, just the sheriff.
did i miss something?

I think what is being said is that when the Sheriff when back to the Commissioners and asked for six additional vehicles, those vehicles should have been patrol cars and not new SUV's for him and his staff who supported him during the election.

Depends on the needs of the department at the time. Where I work, a local Government (not QA) vehicles were purchased (also SUVs) but these were CHEAPER than the vehicles normally purchased for the department, but resulted in complaints because people who weren't involved also didn't know what they were talking about. These vehicles also had the added benefit of 4WD, and as our department was considered "essential personnel" were actually a benefit.
Once again, the one poster trying to make an issue where there is none.

It's a matter of public record. The Sheriff went back in the the Commissioners and requested 6 additional vehicles because he stated that the patrol vehicles had high mileage.
The result was one new vehicle for the Deputies on the road and the rest, Ford Expedition SUV's for himself and his campaign chairman and a new pickup for his campaign treasurer and the rest for other administrators.
It is what it is. I guess some can try to justify it but in my humble opinion, it's payback.
If the Sheriff needs four wheel drive vehicles for emergencies, lord knows the County Road Department and Sanitation Departments have a bunch that could be used and are radio equipped.
Why ride around in the largest SUV made on a daily basis sucking up County gas?

Why not just put 'em all on foot patrols? Gas wasn't an issue when they were bought.

It's not entirely about the gas, read the last post.

It's not entirely about the gas, read the last post. The vehicles are used for patrol. Saw them at a call just the other day in the neighborhood. What's the big deal? They purchased a big wasteful useless vehicle just as SO many others do, mainly as a status symbol and male enlargement tool. They're as guilty of that as any of the other citizen redneck wannabe's in our community. Every organization I have ever worked, private or public operates the same way. New vehicles or equipment comes in, it's trickled down from the top. As long as the equipment at the bottom is still serviceable there's no problem. So far I haven't seen abandoned disabled police cruisers littering our county. Again, a non-issue.
