Give it up already guys...Polllese put those big fat daisy dukes on (never mind please dont) or even Mr. Trooper and all your buddies sitting at home collecting your big fat retirement checks for your erroneous disability claims. Popping pills and getting fatter by the day. Yeah you both look like crap and you want to be sheriff? So much time on your hands and nothing better to do then blog and hide behind your IP address. Yes, we read some of these and I have to say that you two (2) are bringing down our office. Those of us that did have a beef with the sheriff, certainly would never elect any of you to be our boss. As things are progressing the majority of us are happy and it is getting much better. The end note is that no matter how much you all rant and rave the Sheriff Will be the sheriff for as many terms as he wants. There is no one that can touch him because the general public thinks we are doing a good job. Unfortunately the county residents are very happy with the sheriff's office. Anyone who runs for sheriff is a fool, as it would be a waste of time, money and heartache. The county police force will never pass in this county. Too much money...The commissioners dint even want to give us new cars. We got 3 this year and you want them to put out millions for a county force. Not ever going to happen. Mr Borders said in public this weekend that it will be at least a year until the study would be completed. The commissioners dont want it. Please back off and leave us alone. Please.

Freedom of Speach my friend, freedom of speach! What is dint? And why just three cars with such a large fleet? But then again I am sure they figured it would cost so much to take the cars to PG County and get wired up! Hmmmmm, is there more to that deal?

Tell them to save their hardship and money...They will never win. You all may have your favorites but the truth is this community loves the Sheriff. He will be there until he says goodbye. i would put a cool Mil on that!
Go for the QAC county police...I am sure that he would be very happy to police the courts and collect a deserving salary.
Go on a trip, or sit home in your boxers and get fatter...Save your hard earned retirement dollar. Too many snakes fat boy.

Great pic alcatraz, lmao.
GUEST, either you are trying to do a spin job for the people that read this or you truly don't know what you are talking about. see, i've seen the study and a county pd costing millions it doesn't. have you seen the study? very, very interesting to read. now i understand why gery/gary was upset according to mr. ransom. he wouldn't be the king anymore and he knows a county pd could be undertaken with very little effort and money.
another funny thing...the study is not being redone as you say, only the numbers in the study are being updated to reflect current values (and according to the county people doing it, will take about a month or two)
and if gery/gary is the greatest, whats the naacp in an uproar about?

Now, now boys don't get too excited. I too don't see how transferring the budget from the Sheriff to a County Police will cost anything.
I really don't see the problem with doing that. I really don't blame the Sheriff for telling his people that him getting re-elected should be the most important thing. That would be what anyone would do to keep a their job.
I guess the big difference is that a police chief would not have to tell his people not to write tickets to the locals since they vote. As long as the chief of police gets the job done, his job would not be in jeopardy.
Also, I don't understand why they only got three cars when only a few months ago the sheriff was holding up a check for over a million dollars that was given to the Sheriff Department from the federal government. Where did that money go already?

I believe that the check the department received from the Federal Government has very strict restrictions on what the money can be spent on. I believe that cars are something budgeted for and therefore off the list. Then again the trip for the training on gangs may be paid for, not sure.

Sheriff Hofmann spent the afternoon with Col. Sheridan yesterday and per the Col. in QA County this year so far the Sheriff's Office has handles over 700 major crimes calls to the Sate handling just over 200.
Not this counties stats but Col. Sheridans. You would be totally surprised at the troopers who absolutely hate their commander here in Centreville?
So there are police all around that say the same things about the respective offices, politics and so on. Can any of you say without a doubt that your own office wherever you work all love and respect their boss? Do you work in a place where there is no tension or friction among employees. If anyone says yes then you are all a bunch of liars. Take a second and think about all the dis-satisfied people that work in your office or workplace.
Thanks to the administrator for telling the Sheriff that all the Guests on this post are 3 people max using different names.
There is no use arguing different views and wether we like our sheriff or not he will be the sheriff for as long as he likes. Lighten up and get on board to make things better. If you see a problem then go to him and make a recommendation.

Are you so pissed that your career is so tainted that your seething?
Everyone knows who and where you are.
Everything, EVERYTHING, you say is a fabricated lie....You my dear, give law enforcement a bad, bad name. Good luck in your up-coming lawsuit's..

Guest, I'm sensing a little anger there? Have you ever thought how you are coming across? Lashing out and belittling other members only makes you look foolish and immature. Not beating ya up guest, we all have "those kinda" days, but, if you want to get your point across, you are going about it the wrong way. JMHO

As someone who sees the IP addresses of all the posts (your address "stamp"), I can say that the actual number of people in this multi-page thread that are arguing the same position is now 7. That may or may not include a few of them posting from multiple computers (home and work), which brings the number mot likely closer to 5. For instance, the following "people" all post from the same computer: "PFS", "oh sure", "guest", "A Guest", "You Sure About That", "True Guest", "Polllease For Sheriff", "BLA BLA BLA", "Clueless in QACO", "Want to Know More", "Wow", "JIm", and probably a few that I missed.

Listen guest, it is easy............just answer the questions if you can and if you can't just say that you can't. nothing to be embarrassed about. you attack and attack but you never answer the questions and address the issues that you raise and why? because you are trying to divert the attention of the people that read this away from the true issues. so let's go back and start over:
1. county pd does not cost millions of dollars to implement according to the study that was completed a couple of years ago and in fact, was suggested by the study. I have seen the study and anyone can get a copy of it. have you seen it?
2. what's the naacp in an uproar about?
3. where did Sheridan get those numbers from? I mean i know where he got the state numbers, but where did the county numbers come from? If I had to guess, i'd say the sheriffs office because the state don't keep track of anybody else's numbers. So, now we know that gery/gary provided those numbers to sheridan. so, in fact, they did come from the county.
4. of the alleged 700 major crimes handled by the sheriffs office , how many of those 700 were actually different numbers used for the same incident? like having 3 deputies on a call and having all 3 deputies using different numbers or following up on a case and opening another number for the follow-up?
5. what is the definition of a major crime? is it part 1 or part 2, dog barking complaints, internal investigations or is there another way they have been defined?
6. where can i get a copy of these crimes and statistics to verify?
7. how many troopers that work in centreville don't like the commander? Please give a number (and don't generalize) and please divulge the reason.
ok, so theres the re-cap. care to stay on topic this time guest? (or do you find that the best defense is a good offense?)

I did a little research and found out that the $1.6 million can be used for anything except personnel salaries. I would say that $1.6 million would go along way to offset this years budget. Does anyone know what is has been used for?
And again I don't see what the big deal is with just transferring the Sheriff budget to a county police force, appointing a chief of police which would give instant accountability, not 4 years later when the next election comes around. The Sheriff would still have plenty to do with court stuff and serving civil court papers and looking for fugitives as they do in the larger counties.
On a side note, I hope that information is not given out to anyone by Rich. I know in the past he stated that a member of this board stopped by his house and requested the same type of information and he refused. I would hope this is also the case with the Sheriff if he did in fact ask Rich the same thing.
On that, I think Rich does a great job, keep it up!

After reading this topic I can only imagine what the heck is going on! Is it a dead issue since there have been no other replies? Have all of the problems been worked out and everything is ok now? I am just curious as to why this topic has died so quickly?

I am kind of out of the loop as to what is going on in the Sheriff Department now as my neighbor who worked their left and went to work for another department. My only police contact is my uncle who recently retired from Baltimore City Police.
I would assume that Mr Knight is not running again since he has a financial business and Mr Rhodes is now the Chief of Centreville. I have heard two other names mentioned of individuals that have a lot of recent professional law enforcement experience however, I would leave that up to those people to announce that. I don't want to put names out there if it is not true.
There is no doubt the Sheriff will be hard to beat. He obviously has the papers snookerd, he has a lot of public contacts with his tanning businesses and from I understand now, has an interest in the new Hillside Liquor store.

Please don't start this up again. The 'many' guests that were posting actually were only a few people posting as many with fake names, etc. One was a disgruntled ex employee and another was a close friend of a former opposing candidate. I was able to track several IP addresses back to the same software company in Annapolis, for example. As an advertiser on this website, the Sheriff will get the same treatment as our other advertisers, meaning no slanderous and baseless slams will be allowed.

I don't know what is slanderous. I don't see a problem with him owning businesses. I was only saying that to emphasize the fact that he has a lot of contacts with citizens within the county due to his businesses.
In my humble opinion, I think the local papers are quite fond of him also. Geeez
