This is the Politico Forum and I am just quoting what is said on the headline! "Talk about anything to do with Kent Island & The Mid-Shore here!" I can understand where the line is but again isn't this the Politico Forum and isn't the Sheriff and elected official and isn't election time comming up soon? There are valid questions that are being posted again there is a line however if it is a question or a valid point, whats the problem, like others have said if you don't like it, don't read it!

It isn't speech, it's writing which means it isn't slander, it's libel and the difference is significant.
If a statement is true and can be supported by facts then it would not be baseless.

Dear True Guest, let it be understood that as rigorously as you defend the Sheriff because we all know who you are too; I am posting this to represent the Deputies who work for the citizens of Queen Anne’s County. As strongly as you feel the Sheriff can do no wrong, I feel he could do much, much better. The deputies; the original subject of this thread, are very dissatisfied with the quality of their work conditions, not the job itself. Current deputies, not former ones. No one likes working under a micro-manager, but they do because they are committed to the community. There is NO moral in this agency because the “leader” doesn’t believe in building a team up, he believes in breaking them down to do his will. Polllease is 100% correct in ALL the statements that has made in this thread. Sadly, True Guest, I think your devotion keeps you from seeing the whole picture. Any member or guest can read this thread and tell your biased in your opinion by the way you attack anyone who doesn’t LOVE the Sheriff. I think you only keep this going because you enjoy antagonizing the only person who is willing to speak the truth, you really need to get a new hobby. Being a Sheriff isn’t supposed to be about ego; it’s supposed to be about protecting the citizens. A man who has to have is name and picture EVERYWHERE, has ego issues. Gary will probably be re-elected because he is a good politician, but expect most of the agency to start looking for a new employer. The evidence is obvious with the “new” secretary. Gary has to recycle a candidate who was dropped by an academy, because the word is out on the work conditions and not many want to come to QA County. I just wonder why the male candidate isn’t being recycled too. As for the grievance policy, he is un-approachable, he only wants to hear the good. Any thing else would not be good for that Deputies career. It was also said, “If they are unhappy, let them leave.” It would be a sad day for the citizens of QA County if the deputies did leave, because I don’t think the Sheriff and his command staff could handle to volume of calls on their own. Now, let’s talk about crime. A few citizens posted that they don’t care what the Sheriff/Deputies do as long as they are there when they are needed. Shame on you! The patrol deputies risk their lives everyday they work to keep average citizens safe. And I can hear some of you say now, “Come on this is Queen Anne’s County, we are in no danger here.” BS! Let’s not forget the 4 Latino’s with loaded guns in the truck. Let’s not forget the woman with the samari sword. Lets not forget all the bar fights that seem to be getting worse every season! Then lets talk about the crime that is not in the spot light but is still here. The ‘White Parties’ our youth attend. The drug dealers in Grasonville and Dominion. Yes, there is cocaine on KI! The fact that people from other states come here to hold up our convenience stores, and shop-lift our outlets because we are in the “country”. The fact that illegal, un-licensed people are stopped and arrested in Queen Anne’s county on a regular basis! Each an every one of these situations can become dangerous to all the officers, (County, State and MTA) who choose to protect and serve you. True Guest, I will not respond to anything you have to say. I just needed to say this. Wow and election time is just around the corner. I am sure this as well as many other topics will be debate and campaign material!

Below is from the QA County General Code regarding nepotism. Interesting.
A department director or employee may not appoint, promote, reassign, or participate in any action affecting a member of his/her family or an individual involved with the employee in an intimate relationship. A department director may not permit the employment of members of a family where one has direct or indirect supervision over the other. "Family" is an individual related to the County employee by blood, marriage, or adoption. Examples include, but are not limited to parent or stepparent, spouse, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, child or stepchild, spouse's parents, grandparents or spouse's grandparents, cousin, legal guardian, or any other relative living under the same roof as the employee. "Intimate relationship" is a situation in which two individuals are involved in a romantic sense and may or may not cohabitate. Examples include significant other (boyfriend or girlfriend) or partner. Any exceptions shall require the approval of the County Administrator.
