I agree with you Negative Nancy's, I went the first day they opened and only went back after giving them the benefit of the doubt because it was bad. I went back a 3rd time, same experience. Finally only went back because the waitress gave us a coupon for a free entree, still sucked even when it was free. Received a flyer in the mail to join their 'club' to get another coupon for a free entre. At this point it has been awhile since they opened. Still sucked, again when it was free I still say the same thing. Wasn't worth the entre I had to pay for to get the free. Comp the whole meal and I still won't go back, it was a waste of a night out.

the decor is beautiful. the food is ugly. mostly bland, but if any hint of taste, it's off. not even sure if the margarita had alcohol. won't go back.

went back in again because of such a an improvement last time....looks like my last visit was a fluke,it was back at sub-par that peaked at mediocre. I got the mini burgers and all they do is grill off a 2 hamburgers and CUT it into 8 pieces. Inspiring! Maybe they are like oyster season...only good in a month with an "R" in it.

I think the thing that disturbs me the most about R's is the management (not the owner - because he has always been very nice and professional) - one manager in particular - I guess she's a manager- - I think I heard someone say her name ( Kate, Katie - something like that) --anyhow -- nothing gets under my skin more and turns me off from a place then listening to a manager yell and degrade a member of its staff in front of customers -- especially when it appears that they have so many inexperienced people there and the kitchen always seems behind that these kids are struggling to keep things under control. I've seen this a couple of times while I have been there - - last time - - I got my bill as fast as I could - left a nice tip for the poor kid that's getting a bad taste of an extremely unprofessional manager and left. No wonder why so many people quit there.

Send the owner a message?!!!!???What good would that do or has that done? Look at these threads...if this has not sent the owner a message then screw him. It looked like it was getting better at R's and then back to crap.Almost 50% polled said R's had the worst service on the Island...HOW IS THAT FOR A MESSAGE!! There is a for lease sign right in front of the restaurant now )

Why does everyone get on R's about their service?! Every restaurant you go to gets a little bit busy and some people are neglected, they are only one person, they cant do everything. What do you expect for them to eat the food for you too?! Personally I dont like when a server comes to my table every 2 seconds and if they do then they have a little too much time on their hands. Ive had a bad experience at R's, there was a point where they went down hill for a little bit. But now the food has gotten so much better, they are a mexican restaurant that have plenty of things on the menu even if you dont like mexican. As far as management goes, I remember when they first opened and had a really old guy managing that could barely even walk, now they have a few nice young, experienced managers and still no one is happy. I dont get it.

the owner is a middle-aged+, smallish, wiry man, with a lot of energy, and is quite nice.

Yes, so this old man definately was the manager and not the owner. He wasnt lively at all... Kind of dead if you ask me. At least now they are taking a step in the right direction and getting some live experienced management there.

I just recently moved here from laurel, my neighbors were telling my wife and I to try a couple different restaurants around that werent seafood because my kids hate seafood. So I decided to take my family to R's last Friday, and we all enjoyed it. It was great. They had entertainment in the bar, which was close to where we were sitting. My kids and I were singing all the songs we knew of his. Our server I cant remember his name, was pretty good, very nice. The hostess came up to our table to let us know that there was a man drawing pictures, My kids were really excited about getting a portrait. We spent at least 2 hours there, and the whole family had a blast.

The owner is in his mid-to late 60's. That is middle-aged if you are a turtle......

The owner is about in his 60's and his name is Rick.... Very, Very nice guy! I work for him, and absolutely love it, he treats his staff like gold. He is not slow, and he is a very successful entrepreneur. The restuarant may have its ups and downs, but give us a break! Its not even a year old yet.

I am willing to believe he is a nice guy...so why don't you folks get your acts together for him,or at least weed out the crappy servers.....my daughter used to work there when you guys first opened and she said the manager made them go through tons of training and seminars and videos, etc. Do you still do that?.........We have given the business a break but almost a year is plenty of time not to be getting voted worst service....good luck, I hope you turn it around

I have been there since open, we did soooo.... much training. I trained as a server and now I am a hostess... I just couldnt handle it, too much preasure for me. I can tell you that we have been through many managers, and I think we finally found the one who is going to make us successful. We still use some of the training procedures we did in the beggining. Not all of them. New employees take tests, read over a book, study the menu, ect. We also have mandatory meetings often. Instead of trashing the restaurant I think that people should give suggestions.... emailing the manager, leaving suggestions on comment cards, posting them on here, letting some of our employees know... All of this would be so much better than being so negative about the place.

Just got back from drinks and dinner. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Service was perfect, drinks were great, and food was just what I expected it would be.
We will be going back.

OK, Recent experience. WONDERFUL service. No complaints there.
I ordered enchiladas. The presentation was fine. Looked great!
BUT the plate was cold.
The food on it got cold real fast. Because the plate was cold. Refried beans spread across a cold plate ain't gonna stay warm very long, though it might be pretty.
The enchiladas, again pretty, with the sauce squirted across the top looked wonderful, didn't taste... They were bland.
You don't know how bad I'd like to see a decent Tex-Mex place to come here and do well. Why can't it be so?

Judging by all the earlier poor performances and bad experiences by posters here I would think that your question was answered before it was asked...... Seems like the place is getting better.
