Actually it isn't answered...thank you though. One of the managers was my sister-in-law and she was fired the day after Christmas with out cause...there have been more managers there than any place on the Island...she said the first chef they had there was fired after he moved up from North Carolina to take the postion with his wife and 6 month old son.....(again without cause) the negative and positive posts have been back and forth since the place opened..not just in the beginning....Some say it was great when it opened and not great now and vice versa I personally don't mind the place (though it's really got a "cheesy" feel to it) I would say by the posts that the problem is consistency. However , thank you for your input.

Gotta love the "without cause"
What I'm saying is maybe it was "cause" the food and service wasn't up to par.....

However , thank you for your input. Well you are right. No one knows the real reason why all of these people were terminated. There was a lot I agree. Yeah, I had some rough times there, but I stayed and let everything clear. Some of us were terminated when the new chef came, and some of us got our jobs back. A lot of us quit as well. Personally where we are now I think that we are on the right track, we work as a team now and we no longer have to walk into work worrying if we are going to get fired that day. Things for me now are so much better than they ever were, I think its because we now have better organization, yeah it may have taken numerous managers to finally get this place together, and I have some days where I miss, Gina, Rebecca, Dave, and Dayna terribly, and wish that they were still there but without them we wouldn't be so organized, and we wouldn't have a good manager that we have now. Hopefully with the consistency that we have now, the quality and service will eventually be excellent.

I know the real reason. It is because the chef didn't like any of you. He fired your best server there. Christine, for no apparent reason at all. I hear that the owner brought a couple people back that he fired, I believe Kimberly that you are one of them. They tried to bring back Christine but she already had better opportunities out there. I think that if they kept all of the good people with the new management this place would go smoothly with no problems. Maybe they shouldn't have let all the good staff go, it stinks to have to clean up some one else's mess, but once you get past that part, hopefully this business will succeed.

Food got better but the service was still poor. 8 mins before we were asked about drinks and there were only a few people in there. Food took too long. Salsa is much better and so was most of the food. The guy drawing kids did a good job on our son.

Salsa was great but I was a bit upset we eat almost all chips and salsa before we got asked for drinks. The food was a improvement but took 3o mins. to get it and maybe 5 other people in there. I rate it a 5

As with everything YMMV. We were offered drinks almost as soon as we sat down. Salsa was great, chips were hot, food was timely, plates were warm, server was attentive, don't know what else to add. We have eaten in the bar and outside but not on the restaurant side - might make a difference.

With all of the positive statements recently, we will definatly go back for another try. And to kimberlymmills, good for you to support your working establishment ! A new place has to weed out the bad, grease the wheels, and get a great group together to have a successful business. Hopefully this is the case with R's.

Hopefully. I think we are on the right track now. Everyone who has been there since the beginning has been through a lot... now the pieces are finally coming together, I cant promise that this is the best restaurant, but I can say its gotten 10x better... and a lot less stressful for its employees.

You have improved. I'm glad to hear it's getting better all around especialy for the staff. It sux to work in place that is poorly run(been there) when you have good people who want to make it work. We've always had a good time there. Way to go posting your thoughts and getting out the word on what was going on. Way to stick up for your friends and owner. I hope he/they see this and realize what a good friend/employee/pr person they have!! See you at the bar.

Again it was nice to see and meet you guys today and hopefully we will see you again soon! Thank you for your great service Eric ! And no I am by no means a celebrity here. If there are celebrities it's either speedergurl68, gvmike, frank, or Rich Fisher. BTW, Rich is having Kent Island Online Bay Days, most likely in October , and there is a silent auction. Do you think R's may want to add to the auction? I would be happy to stop by and speak with your manager, or owner if you like. It would be a great public relations for the success that your restaurant and all of the great folks are doing now. See ya soon ! CG

100% agree SG-I was thinking what a nice turn this post has taken-having put out there there R's was disappointing in earlier posts, and the response of so many good and bad, R's really seems to have risen to the occasion. Especially when you hear the true reasons from people who know and are genuinely trying to make things better, a comment like that.....eh no point but to be not funny

You know what I really enjoy about this thread, in particular? There were issues raised by our posters and things seem to be changing for the better. I would like to think the two things are not entirely unrelated. Way to go KIO!! ;D Now, if they will just bring back their sopapillas!!! *HINT HINT*

Ok, we (me and DH) went to "R's" last night for dinner. I was very surprised.
The Service was great. The Chips and Salsa were great The Mega-Rita that DH had was huge and delicious The Food (although overpriced in my mind) was excellent.
They did a 100% overhaul on the menu, and once again I was impressed.
They brought the food out exactly as I ordered it...(everything on the side).....
The only thing that I fault the server for was she didn't tell us about the Specials...and we didn't ask...But no biggie!!
The food was delicious....10000000000 % better than the last time I ate there....(long time ago).
I filled out the comment card and gave them a very nice compliment or three.
So It's definately worth a try again......
