Oh, by the way......I am slamming R's NOT Plaza ....I love Plaza and wish they would open one here on the Island. That would be perfect!

Well, I can tell you I was there from day ONE! I was one of their 1st customers because I love Mexican and was so excited. It was okay. I have been there several times and each time it was "okay"...HOWEVER, after ordering carry out and paying $40.00...yes, $40.00 for two ceaser salads and some wings that was it. I wrote to them, got an offer for a gift card and they would speak to the chef. I told them the food was good, don't blame the chef. blame the idiot that thought charging $13.00 for a plain salad and then additional $6.00 to put a piece of chicken ontop thought it was a good idea.....I am repulsed by them and why they think they can charge so much... I will NEVER go back and it's sad.. Actually that is a fair price for what you had for lunch/dinner. What do you expect? Rio Grande? But then again some people will do anything to get a discount.

I agree with you city girl. I have been to restaurants that are far more expensive than R's, and I know for a fact that R's isnt the most expensive restaurant on Kent Island.

KMills -- You are biased and should be barred from spamming the communist rhetoric set forth by the management of R's to you onto this message board.

"Expensive" is relative to the service and the quality. The times I have been to R's I have liked it and felt the prices were reasonable. Lately, the reviews have not been so good.
Overall, the prices at R's might be just fine. However, $13 for a salad plus $6 for chicken on top, and for lunch, if accurate, is expensive!
[edit] Online menus are great! You can check fine dining restaurants in the area such as The Narrows, Kent Manor Inn, Annie's, and others without leaving your favorite chair. I would have pegged at least one of these as being more expensive than R's, yet not one of them has a $13 Ceasar salad. (Unfortunately, R's does not list prices so we can't confirm the price, but that price certainly isn't customary)

ACtually since I work at R's I can tell you. A ceasar salad costs $5.95 and to add chicken or steak it costs $4.00

Management did not tell me to post what I post on here. I do it because I like R's and I like my job.

There is a takeout menu online with prices. It looks like a Caesar salad with chicken would be around $10.00. That sounds reasonable to me.

Been to R's like 4x and it always disappointed me and my wifey. We like good mexican food and R's can't seem to get it on?? The beer selection is like the worst on KI too! Guess I should just go there for the margaritas and elsewhere for good food?

Well, I can tell you (whomever doens't believe we paid that much) that we were charged $13.00 for classic Ceaser and then additional $5.95 to place a piece of chicken ontop. The other issue was the portion was like a lunch salad, this was dinner time. I am not one to complain about anything and always give places a second, third chance etc...however, this was too much. I agree, their are other more expensive places....Annies...for one, GREAT food, GREAT atmospher...I don't mind paying at that place. Kentmore, same thing......I just can't swallow paying those high prices for a restraunt in a strip mall where your view if you want to sit outside is Rt 50.

And you are making a statement that a R's has a ceasar salad that cost you $19 when I know our ceasar salad cost $5.95 with no protein, and to add chicken or steak it costs $4.00.

Okay, so that is even worse then.....I was over charged for something YOU are saying should have only come to about $10....Why would I lie...what good would it do to lie about that....
Mike...again, can't someone have their OWN opinion without being bashed?
Anyway.....I need to get off this going back and forth online with you....besides....I HAVE A LIFE and don't need to spend all my spare time on this forum!!!!

Just posted this review on yahoo (search r's on google to find the posting on yahoo)
Wow, what a disaster. We found this place on our way back to Baltimore and thought that we were in for a treat as we all love American Mexican food. The decor is great, but that's about all that is good about this overpriced, horribly staffed, and just flat out abysmal restaurant.
First, the staff is terrible as many can barely speak English. Just because you have a Mexican restaurant does not mean you can hire Spanish-only speaking staff members. It took forever to get our drinks and even longer to get our food which was brought out at TWO different times! My wife and I had to watch our friends eat while we waited for our food.
When we finally got our food we were very disappointed with both the quality and portion size. The beef was on the same level as Taco Bell and the rice was over cooked. The portion was terribly small for the high price and we never got refills of drinks unless we flagged down the waitress.
We decided to get some sopapillas for dessert and ordered one order as they usually are piled pretty high at the restaurant we usually go to. They brought out two small, terrible pieces for us and we ate and left disgusted at the amount of money we paid for what amounted to an experience worse than any Taco Bell I have ever been to, let alone the real restaurants.
This is a terrible place to eat. It does everything wrong as it focuses on style rather than good, cost effective food.
Avoid at all costs.

Hmmmm....not good since it seems you were there AFTER the big "change". What you felt is what we felt when we spent a ton of money on two tiny little salads. I thought maybe by now the prices would have gone down and the portions bigger. The only positive thing I can say is in the past when I have gone there for lunch, the lunch portions were big, about the same for dinner but half the price!

People around here confuse Mexican Food with Tex Mex.
Other than hand made tamales, you would be hard pressed to find fajitas, burritos, and hardshell taco's in Mexico unless it was a tourist trap looking to please the Americano's.

oye.....wouldn't it be awsome if we had Chipotle over here? I was so excited when one opened up at Annapolis.... LOL!!!
Any Resturant on this island is "hit or miss". If you look hard enough you can find something wrong abount any of them.
R's sucked the first 3 times we were there, we waited a long while and DH had never been there, we been twice now and everything was most excellent.
I could rag on Rustico's and Annies, cause I have gotton horrible food and service from both places.......
I just wonder how many people are truly out on a mission to undermine the resturants cause if you all ready go in there with an attitude or expecting bad service, your probably going to get it and 7 times out of 10 I bet the customer is partially if not completely responsible... Cause some people aren't going to be happy no matter what!!!
